The aircrafts of G.B. Airways Ltd. have been soaring in the skies for the past 76 years – since 1931. It was initially known as Gibralter Airways and began as a wing of MH Bland – a shipping company based in Gibralter. After the World War II, it became a representative of Imperial airways and in 1947 it joined hands with the British European Airways – which in 1973 came to be known as British Airways. The company shifted its base from Gibralter to UK in 1989 to expand its operations. London's Gatwick airport was decided upon as the new base of operations and came to be known as what it is known today – G.B.Airways.
G.B.Airways operates from Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester along with Bristol and Nottingham East Midlands. In 1995 it became a a full franchise of British Airways operating for flights to Southern Europe and Northern Africa. It has recently announced more non-stop flights to and from Marrakesch, Malta and fez for the winter of 2007-2008.
Although privately owned by the Bland group of companies, G.B.Airways Ltd., is a franchise partner of British Airways and so everything from its aircraft livery to the uniforms worn by its staff and crew as well as the services provided are all of the standard of British Airways. Whether G.B. Airways Ltd. operates from London or any of the regional centres, the services offered are the same as Euro Traveller, BA Connect or BA Club Europe.
The headquarters of GB Airways Ltd. has been named 'the beehive'. It is located at the Gatwick Airport's terminal buliding. It has been known to be a carrier of around 3 million passengers aboard its 65 flights that take off each day. It has about 980 people currently under its employment. Unlike other airlines which opt for cheap gimmicks to sell their tickets, G.B.Airways has always counted upon its delivery smooth travel and service to the customer to keep them coming back for more.
